Existing 2011 non-athlete members are required to complete the USA Swimming athlete protection training course by December 31, 2011. Individuals not currently registered are required to complete the course before they can become members.
USA Swimming is committed to raising awareness about athlete protection and prevention of abuse in sport. Praesidium, an industry expert in abuse prevention, has partnered with USA Swimming to develop a customized and comprehensive training tools for coaches, and volunteers. 
The training will help you:
  • Understand the scope and effects of abuse in sport
  • Recognize the signs of grooming behavior and boundary violations
  • Understand how to establish boundaries and protect against false allegations
  • Know how to react and report when you suspect abuse

Brand new members will be required to have their non-athlete application form and payment processed by their LSC registrar before they can sign in to complete the course.

Article 502.6.1

Under Article 502.6.1 of the USA Swimming rulebook, all non-athlete members of USA Swimming must have satisfactorily completed criminal background checks and athlete protection education as required by USA Swimming.
